The Partnership to Empower Physician-Led Care (PEPC) released the below statement in response to CMS’ announcement that it would finalize proposals to implement site neutral payment policies for clinic visits:
The Partnership to Empower Physician-Led Care applauds CMS for finalizing site neutral payment policies that eliminate site of service payment disparities for clinic visits. We strongly agree that patients and their physicians should have their choice of lower‐cost sites of service and not be encouraged to receive or provide care in higher paid settings solely for financial reasons. This policy is a significant first step toward facilitating provider competition that results in better care and reduced costs for patients. We encourage CMS to over time implement additional site neutral payment policies, removing payment disparities for other services with measurable unnecessary increases in utilization.
