PEPC was pleased to join 13 stakeholders in a letter to House and Senate Committee leadership with stakeholder recommendations to prioritize value-based care in Medicare physician payment reform efforts. The letter urges CMS to:
- Extend advanced alternative payment model (APM) incentives, including the APM bonus;
- Reform and stabilize Medicare physician payment, such as a payment update equal to the full Medicare Economic Index (MEI); and
- Provide more opportunities for physicians to engage in APMs, such as directing CMS to focus on filling the current gaps in APM opportunities for small, rural and other practices that, to date, have struggled to join APMs due to high entry barriers or because there is no clinically relevant model available.
